I have received a Penalty Charge Notice for a vehicle I sold last year. I filled in the slip for the DVLA and sent it off. But thinking about it I never got notice that I am no longer the registered keeper. I have checked on line and it has been taxed since I sold it. I have informed Leeds Council who issued the PCN but they are saying that at the time of the offence it was showing as I was the registered keeper. I cant remember the persons details who I sold it to. Is there anything I can do?

Best to check with the DVLA. Try looking online here to contact them as to who the keeper is. In the meantime lodge an appeal with Leeds council to reject the fine officially as you are not the keeper of the vehicle.

Thanks. I have already emailed the council and days to inform them of new owner details. I have the address now where to write as there is no email address to the DVLA and inform them of the sale and have to enclose the PCN. Cheers!
When they do transfer it to the new keeper the tax will be cancelled, you will get the refund of unused tax and the car will be untaxed. What a mess.

The new keeper taxed it not me. When the new keeper registers it can he not register it from when he bought it which was back in January?
Not normally, but I guess if he manages to speak to someone reasonable at the DVLA, they might be able to do something.
