I don't like tattoos at all, but I guess a small butterfly or dolphin somewhere discreet is OK. Have a look at this chap, Mathew Whelan ::

Who in their right mind would employ him ?

Yes I saw that this morning too Bibs...I am surprised he gets through the airport security with all that daft metal on his body. A candidate for the lunatic asylum if ever I saw one. It can't be terribly hygienic !
Often wondered why they all have to be that green/blue colour. Why can't they have vivid red, yellow, pink or magenta?
Mikey, I guess Mr Whelan would go on trying to convince you to have a tattoo until he was blue in the face !

agchristie...LOL !

There is a young lady living opposite me, about 17-18 I suppose, and she has just had a whole "sleeve" done. Its looks dreadful and she has now lost here job as a Receptionist. From a distance, it looks as if she has been run over.

The awful aspect of these tattoos is that they are permanent. As boys in the 60's, we used to buy packs of bubble gum, with these transfers inside them. You licked them and then slapped them on your arm. But they only lasted a short while, because as soon as you got home, Mum would march you to the sink and apply copious amounts of soap and water, and sometimes Ajax, and they were soon gone. But we were children then...why are so many adults behaving childishly nowadays? They effectively disfiguring themselves for life. What will happen when they grow up and have regrets ?
What happens when they get old and still think they look fabulous? Not everyone regrets things they do.
I like tattoos but I don't have any because it would limit my work potential, as acting is a niche market where you might have to be naked representing an historical figure.
I don't think tattoos reflect in any way whatsoever people's ability to work, although I'm aware there are elements who would be unhappy with a tattooed person representing them. Personally I wouldn't care whether someone was tattooed or not if I was employing them unless that tattoo was racially offensive or offensive in some other way.
Tattoos are a 'seemed like a good idea at the time but a few years down tine I regret it now' thing

People get them to make themselves seem more 'interesting' to friends/opposite sex

I had a work colleague who had a set of large roman numerals tattooed on his inner lower arm, which I thought was maybe the birthdate of one of his kids. Turned out to be HIS birthdate (maybe in case he forgot it?)

^ 'down the line'
did you note the bit that says one in five Britons is now tattooed?
