I've been looking online for a mobile phone deal for the past couple of days and come across a few things I'm not sure about

Firstly what does 14 months half price line rental by redemption mean and how exactly does it work?

Secondly, how does the cash back thing work? If there is a contract that should be £31 but says on the website that the customer pays approx £23 after cash back does that mean that £31 comes out of your account each month and you get a lump some of cash back initially? Or would it by £23 coming out each month?

Would I need to apply for the cash back?

Thanks

What normally happens is you pay the £31 each month by direct debit. But then you have to apply for 'cashback' from the retailer. usually 5 or 6 times over the period of the contract.
Ive used mobiles.co.uk before, doing the cashback thing and it seems to work. Make sure you set reminders on your calender to apply for cashback because if you dont apply for it you lose it.
As Rob says, make sure you set your calendar to remind you, as there are very strict time limits to cashback claims.
I've used Dialaphone before and had no problems with them and I've just recently taken another contract out, by going through Dialaphone again, so I've set my calendar to remind me when to apply.
I always send the claims by recorded delivery, just in case the claim goes "missing". This way, they can't say they never received it.

I tottaly agree with Rob & Giz..

Just to add my knowledge of cashback offers having worked for Vodafone for 6 years. these companies always bank on customers forgetting about cashback offers because when everyone remembers and start claiming they often go into administration and then it's left to the network to pick up the pieces, so just be careful what deal you pick, i would rather go for the instant cash back offers. which means you get a cheque through the post in about 4-6 weeks.. hope this helps
