The new BBC comedy starring Martin Clunes. I recorded this because the few programmes I watch are either grisly murders or the odd quiz...well Only Connect and you don't get much odder than that!
Record a comedy, I thought and I do love Martin Clunes....it'll be cheery...and after weeks dealing with estate agents and solicitors I could do with cheery.....

Lord but it was dire. The only time I laughed was when I took a look at the reviews. Warren had been seen fly tipping...the advert I got when looking at the reviews was for Hippobags.... :-(

Did you watch? Your thoughts?..x

I thought he struggled gamely, just about managing to rescue a bedraggled latter-day Terry and June type scenario.

Coogan was worth the wait though.
Typically modern sitcom imho, gness. No laugh out loud moments and only ever so slightly humorous in places. Also very predictable. Take the obscenities out and it could be shown on a Sunday tea time.
I'd recorded Alan Partridge and i had was laughing so long and loud at his mispronunciation of the first guest, i missed the next few funny lines. Had to rewind.
Amusing enough & the end gave me the reminder I needed to switch channels before the appallingly unfunny Coogan creation appeared.
Humorous enough but nothing special. Perhaps it will grow on me. Mind you I thought the John Cleese comedy "Hold the Sunset" was the worst thing I've see in many a long year but they commissioned a second series so what do I know?
I enjoyed it.

It just lost me completely. I was willing to give it a go and wait for it to settle in but the two women with the medium chap was so awful and cringe worthy.
Dave wanted to switch off then but I persuaded him to give it a bit longer... it might improve.....but when they went to steal the stuff from the neighbour's skip I put the on the kettle...
Such a waste of talent. We need some good script writers I think.x
I was looking forward to it as I enjoy Martin Clunes as a performer.
I did watch it all, but it was not remotely funny.
Will try episode two and then make a decision.
I thought it was hilarious. After all th doom and gloom on TV I thought it was just what was needed - some silly daftness.
thought it was awful .
Dire hardly does it justice - a shocking waste of the usually excellent Mr Clunes.
I enjoyed some of it and other bits I thought dire, particularly the women with the medium. Martin Clunes is such a great actor!
Stick to the grisly murders Gness!

There's a good one on BBC iPlayer at present, unsolved after many years about Jack the Stripper.
I am one of Martin Clunes biggest fans so was really looking forward to this sit com. , No, sorry Martin, I didnt find it funny at all.
Didn’t watch it,can’t stand him.Watched a bit of Doc Martin once and that was once too many times.
I watched about two minutes while channel-hopping and it came across as his Doc Marten persona, with some swearing bolted on for 'comic effect'.

Which failed spectacularly.

As Ken pointed out, Alan Partridge's mis-naming of the guest, underlined by his saying "I know what I did there …" had be fighting for breath.

That's how you write comedy, writers of Warren, watch and learn.

Well I have never heard of Jack the Stripper! I thought you'd made a typo, Cory...x

It was the fact that Martin Clunes was in this that I set to record. I'm a big fan and was expecting good things. I was so disappointed.

It's nice to have the odd comedy to unwind with but I can't think of one to watch just now. Unlike many on here I did like early episodes of Mrs Brown's Boys. Perhaps because the characters were somewhat familiar.... ;-)

Not a comedy but I have found....since Dave started messing with my TV.....old episodes of ER...... I do look at those sometimes in the hope that Luka will arrive in the ER and I can drool......x
gness - /// I can drool......x //

Oi!!! I can be hurt you know!!!!!
Question Author
I've never watched Alan Partridge because Coogan's not my cup of tea. Just had a brief look at this new show on iPlayer.....maybe I need to watch more but this didn't appeal to me either....x
Question Author
Oh, Andy...I'm sorry.....I'll save extra drooling for you if that cheers you?...x
