http://www.frontier.a...ations/CoPE/CoPE.aspx If I did anything like this to get extra ucas points, is it pointless if i've already sent my application away? Or like your grades, can you have conditional points for other things?

yes apply today don't delay

I wasn't asking if I should definately apply to this, just if you can get more ucas points even if you haven't got them yet. In a way it's no different to your predicted exam results, ie you've taken/have been entered for them but you might not pass/ you've booked this course which you may or may not pass . . .

i you feel you need the extra backup cos you're worried you'll not get your points elsewhere then go for it, but you can't fool the system or the selection committee

helen if you get a place on condition that you so many ucas points from your exams, why not the same with this extra 70 points from this certificate?
This looks to me almost like buying your UCAS points. It was only a matter of time; or am I being cynical.
No, this will make no difference. In reality universities are looking for grades, rather than points. So for example, you may get a conditional offer based on you getting AAB in your a levels, so if you get ABB, plus 70 points from this, you won't have got your needed grades so they may decline you

bednobs, what about the courses where you need so many points rather than grades?

And i've seen many including; http://www.bangor.ac....eid=130&subjectarea=5
I had a feeing that Molly would be looking at Bangor University as it has a BRILLIANT Marine Science department. Had I better warn the natives?
but even that course is asking for certain subjects, rather than "personal journeys" or whatever it was
If you've already sent off your application and you have been predicted to get the grades you need it seems like a bit of a hassle to use the ucas points from this as you would have to change your application surely?
there's a decompression chamber on anglesey too, better warn them

'A2 or equivilent including biology and at least one other science subject'

Sophie, i'm only in year 12 so I haven't applied yet.
ah well there you go, apparently bangor do accept certificate of personal effectiveness
Oh your question implied that you'd already sent your application away! I think the experience rather than the UCAS points would be a bonus on our application so I wouldn't base where you're going or which company you use on the offer of those points.
agree with Sophie. you need to aim to get enough points with your exams, and if you get certified in personal effectiveness (!) too, even better

And Bangor's less than 100 miles away from where my brother lives (would be the nearest relative to me).
If Molly comes to Bangor university, chances are I will meet her at some point as I deal with all the applications for Hall places and meet the vast majority of freshers over the first two weeks........ oh no, I forgot...... I'm retired. phew
