Depends if it is in your contract of employment. Very unusual to say the least. Most companies supply uniform free of charge, on a personal note I would tell them to stick the uniform where the sun don't shine! Good luck
if you have to pay for the uniform and it has a company logo u can claim it back in your tax return and also the cost of the cleaning of it. If he supplies the uniform he can claim it back. Or he can use it as assets that he claims for in decreasing amounts over the years. not sure abouit legal but he will have cliamed tax relief on these uniforms for sure.
Iwork in a Residential Home as a care assistant. We have to wear uniforms which we have to pay for. We had new contracts at the beginning of the year and it states they will provide the first one but any others we will have to pay for ourselves. Several of us paid for ours from the start.Everywhere else I have worked they have always supplied uniforms and we,ve handed them back when we,ve left or the cost gets taken out of your final pay.
As a nurse who wears non uniform clothes we used to get a MUFTI & laundry allowance (I think from Tax office, not sure) every April of 75.00 in our wages, this stopped this year, but as dot says you can still put this expense on your Tax form, it'll be worth some points on your Tax code.
