8 out of 10 correct. Maybe I should join MENSA.

5/10

8/10 too, I got the Harris one and the last one wrong.

Don't worry love. We can't all be brilliant (copyright TTT)

9/10 for me but the one I got wrong seems to relate to a 'style guide', rather than to a 'rule of grammar'.  It was the one about the possessive form of 'Jesus', which I well remember our English teacher testing us on when I was about 13.  Apparently Mr Hewitt's answer to the question is no longer the correct one!

I got 8/10 too.

I had to think about a few of them.  I always get confused with names that end with an 'S'.   Jones's, Jones' - I would try and rephrase it instead.

10/10, I'm a bit of a pain when it comes to apostrophes, does anyone recall the wonderful Keith Waterhouse and the Association for the Abolition of the Aberrant Apostrophe?

8/10  Got the Jesus and England Squad ones wrong.😥

Nine for me.

Can you feel my smugness from there???

I agree with Buenchico. I know what style guides say but to me there's no logic in writing Jesus' disciples when we say Jesus's disciples. I can see a cases for Achilles' heel because that's how we say it.

There's also some debate about the Harris one. I prefer to say Richard Harriss's wives but there are some who would refer to Charles Dickens's famous novel Christmas Carol and some would write Charles Dickens' famous novel.

I know we say Ps and Qs  but it can look odd to say As and Is.

Does anyone know what is the possessive of gateaux?

The rule I didn't know was the last one, its use to show plural in small letters. I always thought it was omission or possession only.

it hadn't occurred to me that supernatural beings have their own grammar, I must admit.

The fictional Association for the Abolition of the Aberrant Apostrophe

morphed into the very real Apostrophe Protection Society (which I'm proud to be a member of):

7. I'm pretty sure I was right about the other three as well. 😏

10/10 for me.

The text called me a 'Grammar Ninja'.  10/10

LOL at jno 😀

Yes, I bought 'The Daily Mail' just for Keith Waterhouse.  'The Association for the Abolition of the Aberrant Apostrophe' was wonderful!   I once saw a poster outside a Travel Agent's in Bingley advertising flights from Leed's/Bradford airport!

I always approached teaching about apostrophes with slight apprehension.  No matter how clear and slow and steady I was, kids started just 'decorating' their writing!

Not forgetting the greengrocers apos'trophe.

8/10 got me. Mr Harris caught me out and one other which I can't recall.
