...do you ever go on your own?

I want to go and see Star Wars but can't seem to find anyone to go with me. The last few Star Wars films, I have gone to see with my brother but he has made arrangements with his mate to go next Friday :o(

I used to, but now I need subtitles I stay at home and watch - but still usually on my own.

Yes, I've seen three or four films on my own this year. There are always other solitary viewers in the cinema, I initially thought I'd look like a Norman No-Mates!

I don't go to the cinema but, if I wanted to, I wouldn't hesitate to go on my own. I eat out on my own, I occasionally go to the theatre, or to a music event, on my own, so I wouldn't see anything unusual in going to a cinema on my own.

Last film I saw in the pictures was the last Hobbit film, and yes I went on my own - as always.

I've only ever been to the cinema on my own once and that back in the early 90s'. My mum and brother were in another theatre in the same cinema watching a kids film.

tigger I have not been to cinema for ages but my MIL goes regularly to watch a matinee on her own.

I would go to the cinema if they had the old style bigger one screen theatres. I feel physically sick so close to a wide screen. I would sooner wait for the DVD so I can set my own volume as well.I had no problems going solo to the cinema. I have,sometimes, solo holidays. :-)

Been a long while since I last went to see a film at the cinema, but yes I used to occassionally when on my own. Used to watch the early evening showing then sometimes afterwards popped into a restaurant for an evening meal. On retirement I had intended to take up the pensioner discount and go see the occasional matinee, but circumstances changed and it never happened.

The cinema is probably going to be packed and I would feel like Billy no mates.

I go to watch the film. Not the unaccompanied patrons.

Don’t deprive yourself seeing a great film, you will blend in no bother .

The wife goes on her own quite often. They have a ‘Golden Oldies’ performances with a discount and tea and biscuits thrown in.Most of the films are to her liking but not mine. As before I would just feel ill. Last film I attended was Dunkirk. I felt nauseous all the way through and couldn’t hear the dialogue. Awful sound system.

why tigger? lots of people go on their own, no one will be the slightest bit bothered that you are on your own. I know couples that go singularly because OH is not interested in watching the film.

Also to the theatre, as long as I know my way there and back, confidently.

I don't go to the cinema but I live alone. If I didn't go places alone, I wouldn't go anywhere.

The first time I went to the cinema on my own was when I didn't know what I was doing work wise but was going to see Get On Up (about James Brown) with a friend. By the time I knew what I was doing, the friend couldn't go and it was the last day of the showing so I went on my own because I really wanted to see it. Not only was I on my own but I was the only person in the cinema. I felt a bit vulnerable at first as anyone could have walked in and mugged me but I got used to it after a while. At one point a staff member put their head in the door and had a look around - I think they were going to just turn the film off but then they saw me sitting there in the dark.

If there's a film I really want to see I would go on my own. Would probably go to a daytime showing, not late at night.
