I recently bought a hammer from B&Q. Once out of the shop, I started hitting myself over the head with it. Unfortunately, this caused severe injuries and I was away from work for several days.

Could I sue B&Q for £1000? After all, there was no indication that this shouldn't be done and the hammer came with no instructions.

Ah, as you were out of the shop the hammer would be deemed to be your sole responsibility. Now if you'd done it in store, before buying it you could sue their ***.
Sorry if my post is echo-ey but I'm stuck down this damn man-hole you see.
What colour was the handle?
Have they apologised?
:)
Probably magnolia naznomad as you wouldn't get a problem with one that was hummous cream coloured.

Did they offer you a 3 day 'hammer awareness' course at the point of sale
Have you been watching the One Show factor?
yes, a really good lawyer should nail this one for you.

are you from Norfolk by chance?
.......provided she can assure them it was not her fault Shortplanks.

Like the man who received £7000 when his employer gave him the wrong ladder which then slipped! (What happened to the age-old advice to always have someone holding the ladder?)
I agree with you Andy. The pillock in that ladder advert should have known it was the wrong ladder in the first place.

He would only have a claim if he was forced to use it by his employer on fear of losing his job. He was probably sacked afterwards anyway, and then sued the employer again for wrongful dismissal and get £250,000
Time for this ...
