I've recently had some nasty spyware and viruses on my pc, but after getting rid of them, found problems on my pc.

I have downloaded a new internet explorer 6, but still have the problem that when I click on a link they do not open in a new window. I know I can use CTRL + N to open a new browser, but this doesn't solve the problem. I want to post on my msn group but when I click the reply button (uses javascript) nothing happens.. On here I can't right click and open a question in a new window either.

I guess I will have to reinstall XP again, but does anyone have any solutions? Nothing to technical or guesses please.

sounds similar to a problem i had a while back.unofrtunately i couldnt find an answer and had to clean and re-install xp

I had a similar problem in XP from the moment I got my new PC, I searched the microsoft website and located this help page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281679

It suggests running a number of registry updates on some .DLL files, I did this and it resolved my problem.
