I am intending investing in a Sat Nav for my car
I have been told that the Garmin models are the best buy.
Has anyone got any advice which is the most suitable model?
My motoring holidays will be in the UK so I would not require European Maps or installed information

I like my Garmin Nuvi but like any Sat Nav it has it's quirks. Some streets are on mine but not on Tomtom and vice versa.
It is down to the individual - I have a tom tom navigator 5 on a dell axim, my wife has an RAC 200 and we both think ours is the best!!!!
I've got a dog eared atlas.
It's the best
Most SAT NAVS are only as good as the operator, My sister in law got a new one and programmed it to take us from Anglesey to Portsmouth, I knew the way from Anglesey to the M6 so told her to switch it on when we got on the M6.

When she switched it on we carried on down the M6 but it told us to take the next exit, go round the roundabout and take the third exit but as I knew this was wrong we carried on, at the next exit it did the same.

When I pulled into the service I discovered she had put the postcode in wrong and it was trying to direct us to Edinburgh
My Navman is canny like. But any of these things is really useful and pertinent over (say) the last few miles.
My wifes satnav directs her to come off at the next roundabout and once there directs her back onto the motorway she has just left.

thanks for your answers.
My Smartnav system is terrific. If you don't know the postcode, you push a button and an operator welcomes you by name and asks where you want to go. I give him/her all the info I have (however sparse) and they sort it out, transmit all the route details of it to my unit and off I go.There are very limited monochrome details on the screen but it has all the details I need. It has never been wrong nor let me down. It even tells me if there are traffic jams and diverts me around them. It wasn't cheap but I no longer take the scenic route when I go out. It is fixed in the car so is not attractive to thieves. I think it's the best.
