Trunks towards the door for good luck.

Unless they are real, then you let them do what they want. :)

They should face the door. Of course, this is very difficult to do if the room is fairly small (say, a single sized bedroom) as the turning circle of an elephant is quite big. In which case I would suggest removing the window and pushing the elephant into the room through the gap (use a shoehorn for those extra tight spots).

Best to buy a baby elephant and allow it to grow to the room capacity I say.

Rear end near the door. Not so far to carry the droppings when you want to put it round your roses.:+)
You should ask Thecorbyloon. He will know which way Brenda prefers to stand! :-)
I think, towards the door, and trunks pointing up for good luck.
GANESH or GANESHA, should always face towards the inside in the home, in temples however he should always face towards the outside. If you have more than one icon in your home they must be in odd numbers, never even.
If this is something that you take seriously, which I think you do, then according to the Hindu deity 'Ganesh' (Lord of success), the elephants should always face towards the inside of the house but in temples they always face outwards.
