Car Window Breaker Tool For Emergency Use

Purchased a small tube device from Temu.

One end is a seatbelt cutter to be used in an emergency situation.

Other end is a "bolt" protruding about 1/2 inch. It is to be used as a window/windscreen breaker as a potential rescue tool.

Problem is there are no instructions and I don't want to accidentally "fire it" as I don't think there wou!d be a reset.

Anyone any ideas please.

You don't fire it.

You use it as a hammer.

Assuming it's the same as other ones I've seen you don't "fire" it, you just use it like a hammer and smash the pointy bit against the glass.

If you can release your seatbelt in an emergency the metal bit is an effective window smasher.

🙄

I wonder how the cops view these tools - if you carried a hammer or a baseball bat as a window breaker they might consider it an offensive weapon.

offensive weapon . . . . or "going equipped to commit a burglary" which I believe they can pull you up for.

Spark plus is supposed to be a good window breaking tool, never had need to try it though. Police seem to be able to break them on the TV, with their Batons, but I guess if the public carried one in the car that would be an offensive weapon as well.

My mind is boggled by tangents this morning.

Isn't that what the headrest on the seats is for- if you release the headrest there are 2 rods with a sharpish end - they are designed to break glass

😳😉

The police wouldn't be bothered by such a device - look at the damage I could do with my steering wheel lock that slots in at the side of the driver's seat, or fire extinguisher I carry in the boot.

You can carry knives, chisels, rechargable drills and angle grinders if you've got a legitimate reason.

I always carry a passenger who's wearing stiletto heels in case I need to break glass.

Thanks to those who came back with a sensible answer

If you want something you can "fire", have thought of one of those automatic centrepunches ?
