what are these used for. if i wanted to download a film from pc would i put it on one of these

CD re-writers can be used to write data like your files and music etc. to CD. DVD re-writers are just the same, but store much more on them.

if you have a camcorder, you can put your footage onto a DVD so that it plays in your regular DVD player by your TV.
