morning all, another early start, i hope you are well and that your day is a good one.
nothing on the calendar for today, if today is remotely like yesterday then good, as it was beautiful, sunny and very warm.
I have just looked at the weekly forecast and it's partly sunny but with rain, oh well summer didn't last long, shame as i really thought we were in for an Indian summer. Looks like it will be back to sweaters and jeans before long, though i will hold out wearing shorts and t shirts for as long as possible.........
i bought a backpack and though it was a tad expensive for a market bought one i don't mind. I popped into the local inn on the way home and sat in the sun, cold cider, and warmth on my face, what more can anyone ask for... sadly i think these days are numbered....
Sunshine and Cider, absolute bliss.
I've just parked my lawnmower in a shed.
The sun is still shining, time for a tipple or two before kitchen duties beckon, I reckon.
sounds good to me, the local inn is near many hospitals not least Great Ormond street hospital, for sick children, which is world renowned, and parents often rock up at this pub as a respite whilst their child is being treated - their tales are often heart breaking, why if there was a God would he make the entirely innocent children ill.. beats me
I don't know and I never will.
If the parents get a bit of respite that's good.
Guess you chat with some of the parents when you're there.
You are possibly doing more good than you think.
A kind ear is priceless
we do, and yesterday was no exception, one couple's child was being treated for a port wine stain across his neck and back, laser surgery was used and it seemed to be working, the parents had been to London from Liverpool five times to get their child treatment. I think it helps them offload the stress. There is an atmosphere of we are all together in this at this pub, and i do think that it's one of the better ones in London.
So many people's lives are made better when they meet a kindly/thoughtful ear.
Keep visiting your local.
You may not know how many lives you are enriching
you could be right, the pub is full of locals too, and hospital staff who apparently make a beeline for the pub when it's a months end friday payday... they often get packed out even though inside can only accommodate a small amount of people, they have eight tables outside and then a large area to stand....
i still haven't heard from my friends in Australia, now i am worried as i don't know if Jean, the mum is alright. I sent her daughter a letter with my email address on it, but that was ten days ago and still nothing....
there are all sorts who use the pub, it's a regular melting pot of personalities. I like the place for that reason, no one turfs you out if you sit for a quiet pint.
