I don't deliberately tan, except for my legs, but do tan easily and always come back from holidays brown everywhere - ish. For a white caucasian (is that the right word to use without upsetting anyone??) I think there is a point you never get any browner.
//Do you just reach a certain level of "brown" or do you keep getting browner and browner//
Answer :- You reach a certain level of skin cancer which gets worser and worser.
I was on holiday earlier this year and met two lovely women. One was 70 and her younger sister was 65. The younger sister was a sun worshipper and looked at least 10 years older, maybe more.
Some people get silly brown whereas some people, like my daughter, never changes colour. She stays pasty.
I don't sunbathe but am outdoors a lot and normally go brown and stay that way all summer. This year I went the normal shade of brown but the started to have pale patches until I resembled a pie bald in colouring. It was most impressive on my neck with a deep brown colour with pink patches.
Yes Danny, I thought that it might be Vitiligo, the pale patches are slightly paler than my normal colouring.
Tilly, yes like Michael Jackson but without the talent or the money.
When I was younger, not so aware of the dangers and working in the middle East I got to be a lovely colour, but I think I probably got to near the maximum.
I have wondered if there is any research into people with normally dark skins getting cancer, especially as they can also get tanned. Many years ago I spent six months in the Pacific and noticed an Indian friend of mine had got a tan. We noticed because during the day we wore shorts but naturally wore trunks for swimming, the area covered by the shorts was lighter than the rest of his leg.
