I have used Sodium Chlorate for many years. However, it seems to have been banned, I think it is something to do with EU rules. Is there an alternative to clear weeds from my driveway, between garden flags etc, without having to buy expensive ready sprays. Some websites e.g. Wilkinsons, advertise it, but when you go to their store website, it says no longer for sale. It seems that you cannot buy it from stores, garden centres etc. It is still availabe on Ebay, but when you have paid the p&p, it is very expensive.

its combustable, therefore withdrawn! You dont wanna blow up weeds?
It was withdrawn because:

"there are clear indications that it may be expected that it has harmful effects on human health"

http://www.pesticides.gov.uk/uploadedfiles/Web_Assets/PSD/chlorate_decision_2008_865_EC.pdf

Amateur products were withdrawn in May Sale to stop at the end of September and should no longer be used after May next year.

I think there are quite a few alternative products in most garden centres
I use Roundup on my garden & allotment. It is much more environmentally friendly than other weedkillers, as it neutralizes as soon as it touches your soil.
