My TV/video/Sky/DVD recorder was set up okay, until I had electricians round yesterday who spent the day turning the electricity on and off. Now, my TV is only black and white, as is my video. If I switch it off at the mains, I SOMETIMES get colour tv but black and white video. Then I try it again and it is all black and white. I am really angry, cos each time I need to get this set up, I have to ask the Sky or Curry's man to come out and fix it and it costs me money. any advice on why this is happening?

are your tv and video/sky connected by a scart lead. this is a thick black lead normally that has a connection on the end about 2 inches wide?
Question Author
Yes they are
you may have a loose connection on one of the ends. If they are low quality scart leads they can be affected by bad connections. You can get gold plated scart leads that provide a better connection with less loss but these are more expensive as you would imagine.

Try pushing the connector into the socket as much as possible and if it still has the same problem, then I would recommend a new scart lead.

I reckonm that this has been the issue in the past and the engineer has thought it to be an easy job to fix as the first thing they normally check are the connections. Currys and Sky are laughing from the money made on calls like this so head off as much as you can by checking the connections first.

I hope that this helps.
