How much is it costing you? I have a key meter and it costs me about 60p a day in summer and just over a pound in the winter.

Remember the cost also includes the standing charge and VAT etc, it's not just the actual cost of the electricity.

when my dad fist bought our house a few years ago one oif the rooms had one in I think it accepted 50 pence pieces. I dont think it was being used so he got it removed I never knew people still used them!!
The tarrif on coin meters (pre-payment meters) can be set by the supplier or the landlord. The supplier can increase the rate charged to recover arrears.

Coin meters, as I remember, have a switch within the meter that lets the landlord modify the rate charged.

If you're in a long-term tenancy you could investigate changing electricity suppliers.
