it's always a pain putting things back into the stuff sack that they came out of, so why don't manufacturers make them that little bit bigger?

Not cost at all, it would only take a few extra pence. It's so that when your sleeping bag or whatever is in the sack it takes up less room. If you have an issue with fitting it in just buy a bigger sack from an outdoor retailer, or get one with compression straps. (Goes in big bag & pulls small) http://shorl.com/bedopobybevu
