Yes they do, although the fruits of the blackthorn are very bitter they become sweeter and more paletable after the first frosts, perfectly timed for the invasion of hungry birds during the cold winter days.
This is true. Also remember - if you pick from the blackthorn, wear tough gloves. The sloes make a fabulous Schnapps!
