My neighbour has dropped bronzing balls (AVON) and stood on them, on her light beige bedroom carpet. Her hubby has tried to get the mark out with carpet cleaner...now a smudged mess...any ideas please on what to do? The carpet is mixed fibres.

miss skippy - Tell your neighbour to try rubbing some neat washing machine liquid in to it & gradually rub the excess away with plain warm water.

I shall tell her that and let you know if it works, many thanks.
Too late for this but the best thing to do is hoover up any powders. You can sometimes use salt to absorb some of the colour. Bronzing balls have probably got some sort of fat in them so detergent will help. Or...you could try Vanish Carpet cleaner. Good luck
Try a steam cleaner. Its worked for me with just about everything.
Had a carpet cleaning business years ago and could get pretty well any stain out with a STEAM CLEANER
(make sure it is HOT)!
Be sure to work/rub the stain to get all of the oils and foreign substances out of the carpet.
Also vacuum/suction up the water/moisture well.
Don't walk on it until it is dry.
It may help to put protective coating on after finishing (water proofing or something similar.

Thank you all for your sugestions.
lakeland plastics do a wonderful spray on carpet cleaner that really does take any stain out of a carpet. it comes in a can which looks like a fire extinguisher. some spray on cleaners have brighteners in them which make the cleaned area stand out, but this one doesn't. another good one is by chemdry. both are equally good.
