im in the market for a newish(03to05) car i like the rx-8 and the jag x-type sport ive i got about �12k to spend

well i would get a renault clio sport 2.0i because there quike and nippy and cheap to run than a jag or rx8

BMW 3 series without a doubt!
RX8 - too costly in insurance & petrol - it drinks the stuff
Jaguar - fine if you're over 50!
