Footings for a wall

I am going to build a low wall 4 sided (about 5 bricks high and about 10 metres long). It wil be used as a flower bed. I will be using standard red bricks.

How deep and wide do the footings need to be?

I presume the wall is a single brick thick....if so, i'd go about 9" deep and 6" wide.
For double skinned walls it would be 9" deep by 12" wide.
