Green tomatoes

My tomato crop has gone on and on this year and I've still got some green fruit left. Is it true I can harvest them and put them in brown paper bags to ripen them?

The paper bag trick does work more often than not but you do have to keep on checking to see what stage your tomatoes are at. Simpler is to find them a warm windowsill where you will be able to watch them ripen day by day.
