3T loves his binary code. In the 70s when transistors and the developing semiconductor processors were emerging we had to embrace it or die. I tend to let it glide past my conscious now. But would not discourage anyone from taking it seriously. The Chinese and South Koreans certainly do.

On an early PDP 11 we had 9 bit bytes, 1 parity that meant we used octal as short hand 3 octal digits to 9 binary. When parity was absorbed into the machine we had 8 bits again and thus we used hex as short hand, ahh happy days!
