But far from terminal.
Had a lawn laid about 3 years ago. Dealt with cat poo with a hose. It's got a few dents in it. And bald patches. Can I just cover it in topsoil and bash it flat?
Only I don't think that will cure the bald patches.
Got a picture if I knew how to post them.

Spath, are you there?
Can of petrol, and a lighter should do the trick.
If you riddle the soil you should be OK for small dents as the grass will grow through. If the dents are deep you could follow the advice of my father-in-law and remove the turf, put soil (or sharp sand) under and then replace the turf.
Re-seed the bald patches and then cover with top soil.
Remember to keep it well-watered.
I did mine a few weeks ago and it's just coming through now - this cold spell isn't helping though :(
Our cat has gone now .. but we used to have the dreaded bald spots.
Same as Giz ... What I did was get an old knife and score the bald spot lightly in a number of directions, to loosen the top soil, then water it to make it moist.
Just scatter some seed over the area and a bit of compost or crushed soil from the borders on top of the seed. Dont let it dry out and bake, keep an eye on it and lightly water. You will be cutting it in no time.
Top soil then rake it flat.
Use a lute/levelawn.
