My best friend and her boyfriend from America had a mattress that spread fiberglass all over their room and the walls, the curtains, their clothes, the TV, everything got effected. They've also been breathing it in which doesn't help. They've been cleaning/washing it all day and it just keeps multiplying and they're really upset so if ANY help i would really appreciate some suggestions on ways to help them out!

Buy a new mattress and get them to take the old one away
presume the mattress is now out of the room ?
I'm just gobsmacked that a mattress was capable of speading glass fibre around the bedroom. Doesn't sound safe to me.

But sorry, no. No ideas apart from umpteen thorough vacuumings. May need professional cleaners.
Wear a breathing mask. Maybe get possessions outside on the lawn and wash them. Then get hazardous material cleaners in ?
Are you sure its fiberglass and from the mattress ?
I get a lot of cotton/fluff coming through an open window, at this time of year, from the willow and poplar trees outside. Just a thought.
Americans are dafter than I thought....using fibreglass in mattresses.
(not convinced that they do, however)

Heya guys! There's no direct way to reply to each comment and answer questions but i've been on a few of these websites just asking the same question trying to get different answers from different people because this is quite serious. So i'm VERY greatful of any responses or suggestions regarding this.

Firstly, in response to 'Old-Geezer' the girl and her boyfriend can't afford professional cleaners. But they are thinking of making a lawsuit against the company who sold them this crap because it was never stated anywhere on the website that this mattress contained fiberglass materials before they purchased it. But however it does state it on the tags, which they didn't see until after it spread everywhere. As for them using vaccumes they've been doing that for the past two days and it keeps spreading and isn't going, and that goes for their possessions as well it's extremely hard for them to get rid of it and they have breathing masks and have been using them too. Really appreciate the help and suggestions mate!

Then, Chipchobber, yes the mattress contains fiberglass it's all coming from the mattress after they tried to clean it. All their stuff has been effected and they've had to put it all in different bags. They're really upset about it which really bothers me. And yes it is crazy and stupid that in america they use fiberglass in mattresses. I'm from Ireland myself and have never heard of that happening here. As for buying a new mattress they don't have the money to and i'll try to keep you updated on if they contact the company that sold them it or if the company is going to be refunding them or whatever, they say they're going to make a lawsuit or something against them, i'm not sure what their plans are with that though if they will be making a lawsuit for certain or not so i'll have to keep asking to get an answer on that but they have told me they might. But yeah i appreciate your comments bud.

murraymints, i'm honestly not sure on that! I'll have to ask on that one. They're not sleeping in their bedroom though because it's so bad they told me they're sleeping on the ground in their living room. Everytime they go into the bedroom they're wearing masks.

Thanks so much for the comments and the help guys!
