signed. Have been saying this for years. Ask also about the horses who don't make the grade, those injured in training and what happens to those who are retired. Yes some owners care throughout their lives for the horses they are responsible for but its not called the bloodstock INDUSTRY for nothing
I agree, Minty. What annoys me is when owners and trainers are asked about their expectations of their horse in a big race, and they say "We just want him to come back safely." Well, don't send out there to potentially break a neck or leg, then!
“Create a new independent welfare body to protect racehorses from abuse and death
The British Horseracing Authority is responsible for race horse welfare. But around 200 horses die each year due to racing in Britain. We urge the government to set up an independent regulatory body, with horse welfare as its only interest, which will take meaningful action to stop horses dying”
I’m perplexed an independent regulatory body will do.
Are you saying that horse owners/trainers don’t take care of the horses as from what I see race horses are treated better than any other horses so what exactly would the independent regulatory bodies purpose be?
