Over the weekend I decided to give our shower a more thorough clean than usual!  Ever since then the water coming out of it is only warm.  I've tried moving the handle to make it go very hot and very cold but it doesn't seem to alter very much in temperature.  The water from the bath and handbasin taps are absolutely fine.

The shower is a separate unit and it has a ceiling fixed head and also a head that you can take off and move around.

Also, the pump in the airing cupboard was leaking about a year ago, but it sealed itself up with limescale and is now starting to leak again!

Any suggestions as to why the water is only warm and not hot.  The thought of a tepid shower in the winter months is not appealing!!

There could be a problem with your thermostat so that there is a problem with the temperature as a result of that and it could have no connection with the thorough cleaning job which you did. Bite the bullet and call plumber - you can get the leak done as well.
