You might be committing trespass if the outlet projects beyond the boundary of your property. You should check your property deeds and establish your boundary before taking any action.
Also bear in mind that if the extractor is in a wall is one that is covered by the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 the extractor fan outlet might be included in the Award made under that Act.
