Was the daughter's response when I started to tell her about Answerbank.
Well let me tell you about a real and beautiful person, one of many I have met here.
When Owd was having a very bad spell I started doing silly, cheery posts for him. DT. made contact with Owd and somehow a few of us started an email friendship.
Owd was a brilliant wood turner...a true and passionate craftsman. During a better spell he returned to his shed and, as a thank you for the friendship and making him smile, he made us some beautiful bowls. How kind and thoughtful was that?
Once, when I asked how he was, he said he was more concerned about how tired his lovely wife was becoming. He was so proud of her and loved her so much.
So....even more than a real person.....he was a star. I'll miss Owd.
And to the daughter......Worry not.......Answerbank has a wonderful side to it and it was truly present last night.

very well said gness. He sounds like a the perfect husband and friend.
Well said gness.
Gness, I think that's as nice a post as I've ever seen here.
I may not be the best with words, but I'll 2nd that Gness.
Gness, I think you knew Owd better than most on here. Your tribute is very moving.
Your daughter is wise to be wary as there are a lot of very nasty people exploiting the anonymity of the Net.

But for the rest of us it can indeed be a very kind and supportive haven with salt-of-the-earth saints like Owd. He is sadly missed.
^Sandy^ Hear, hear! Gness, that is perfect.
What a wonderful post, gness, yes we will miss him.although he is now at peace, our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Owd and family.Well said!!
Very well said Gness

Beautiful G.....
And so is your post. x
Gness, lovely and so true, it takes someone like you to get the rest of us moving. I hope his lovely wife will join us at some stage xx
Oh no, you've made me all teary now gness.
Me too rocky. Lovely post gness x
Gness, what a lovely tribute...from a lovely lady,
Another reason why I keep coming back - thank you Gness - what a lovely tribute to a gentleman who was and still is obviously much loved and respected
That's lovely, gness - we may all be cyber-friends, but Owd made a big impression on many of us for his stoicism and courage in the face of the inevitable. Owd was an example to us all.
Very well put gness, and yes he was a star indeed. I will miss him and it won't be quite the same without his witty dry humour.
I spoke to him briefly on the phone last weekend, it was hilarious he couldn't understand my accent and I couldn't understand his it was like something from a comedy sketch.
I shall remember that phone call for the rest of my life. RIP Owd a lovely man.
That is a lovely post, how good that someone actually knew Owd.
