i usually use a bleach spray on mie and they come straight out. Can be harder to remove if the worktop is old and worn so more porous.
how about trying a paste of denture cleaning stuff? smear the paste on and leave for a few hours?
(Have never tried it though)
I'm not sure about work surfaces, but glycerine works a treat on tea stains on fabrics.
Wouldn't hurt to try it.
Good luck!
Bleach.
Best thing ever is Hob-Brite a cream cleanser, a bit like Cif, available from supermarkets, Wilkinsons etc - it's in an orange bottle with a blue cap. I use it all the time on my pale grey worktops.
This may work, if you have some handy........

Rub some laundry liquid, well into the stain, then cover with a warm, damp cloth for approx 1/2 hr then wipe away
Also stain remover for pre-wash in your washing machine or as pre-wash for hand washing - works wonders too.
