While putting a squirt of loo cleaner in the bowl I caught sight of the label.

It's going to remove limescale, clean as well as killing all germs.

Now I'm quite happy having a limescale and stain free loo, but why should I worry so much about the germs???

I don't wash in the loo, I don't even come into direct contact with it. Could these germs jump up from the bowl and bite me on the bum?

Any ideas?

Always remember the graffiti in a public loo - "don't try standing on the seat, the crabs in here can jump ten feet"
They do when you flush. Which is why I always put the lid down before I flush.

Not that anyone ever died from flushing the toilet before.
As they say "It's no good standing on the toilet seat cos the crabs in here can jump 10 feet"
<mutters very quietly >

'splashback'

< goes off to clean loo >

Well that's a new piece of graffiti for me!

I'd love to read that headline in a newspaper Evian - Woman dies flushing toilet'

Aaahh, thanks Dave hadn't thought about that possibility.

It seems odd that we go all out worrying about the loo but a wash hand basin gets barely a mention. Perhaps this is a gap in the market, I could exploit all those clean freaks who buy every germ killing product to 'keep their family safe'.
Is your loo in the bathroom and do you keep your toothbrush in there?

you can also google flush plume but not while you are eating
its called the arseol effect

I flush my loo and put cleaner in especially if its left unused for a few hours. Also clean the handle with disposable wipes. I also have to clean the sink every day as OH makes such a mess when hes using it.
I live with boys. They make a mess!!!!
Boys are gross. Fact.
Germs are airborne, and as advised, they do infect the water vapour that rises up from each flush, and can therefore come into contact with clin and clothes.

Without being obsessive about it, basic hygene dictates that a good cleaner is used - but i am sure our immune systems will see of all but the most virulent of germs.
and flush with the lid down!
Evian - I agree!!
The same man who discovered the toilet plume also found out that boy/ men only environments are actually safer so far as contamination is concerned as they don't try to clean... this means they don't stir up the bugs too much and spread them
I don't suppose it is healthy to have a hotbed of germs anywhere in your obode so germ clearance must surely be expedient from this viewpoint. Not sure about the cat though....you can't exactly sanitise him.

Well you live and learn.

Perhaps it would be best if we just peed on the compost heap......
