You're lucky. It's a gay chat-up line.

It's old news now but I hear and read it all day every day at work and I know I didn't 3 years ago. 'Reach out' and its irritating bedfellow 'lean in'.

Oh and when referring to different sections of the business - 'in the Finance space' 'in the Ops space' 'in the Quality space'

"We're listening"  - aye, in your dreams!

Public bodies and councils "learning lessons" following a review of some egregious behaviour?

Only today I had an email from the USA beginning 'thank you for reaching out'.  The 'lean in' thing is particularly annoying, as is the use of 'disconnect' as a noun: 'there's a disconnect between....'

In interviews in the media - "There's a lot to unpack ..."

What piffle!

Often you hear people talking about something they think is very important and they say 'you can't underestimate the importance of....'

You'll hear me shouting 'yes you can, you can say it's not that important.  What you mean is you can't overestimate the importance of' !

i dunno if this counts but there is a person at my work who sent me a meeting invite

"hello, a place holder for the finance meeting, hosted by myself"

what's wrong with "me"?

Well a little off topic maybe but, "how did we do".

I buy somethings online. I see, I like it, I order it, I pay for it. No sooner the above is completed I get asked, How did we do today? Of course I ignore.

I get the goods a few days later, goods fine.

Then forever and a day, emails, how did we do. :0)

Jesus c**** I bought something from you, I paid for it, you sent it, I got it, now s** Off

bednobs - nobody  says 'me' anymore!  Too scared of getting me/I wrong, so it's always 'myself'

no problem

at the end of dissatisfactory interview when your problem has been well and  truly ignored

The crowbarring of 'potentially' is a worry.

Lately beloved of those jolly, banter-filled upholders of da law on the catch and release police programmes. A verbal finger-wagging for the cowed masses as to what might have, but didn't 'occur'.

Why do you specify 'At work' TTT?

Are we,' the retired' not allowed to say?'

Question Author

of course you are barsel, it's just at work I hear this sort of thing the most.

It really annoys me when someone plonks a plate of food in front of me and says 'Enjoy'

Lol Margo Don't you really want to say something like, 'I don't think I will' or 'Ok, then'

The one I don't like is when I am left hanging on the phone and a voice comes on that says, ' Your call is important to us,' and I'm shouting down the phone, 'Well answer the b****y thing then!'

"You know", repeated ad infinitum though a meeting.  Well actually no nwe dont that is why we are here!

And that dreaded use of the word 'Like' is creeping into the workplace now.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
