Ohhh I love my kindle too - didn't think I'd prefer it to books but I do, no more lost place when I nod off!
As someone who hates the mention of Christmas until well into December (i.e. ideally around 2359 hours on 24th December) I ought to feel really annoyed by your post.
As someone who'd love a kindle but who struggles to pay for a book in a charity shop I ought to get really envious.
However, as someone who knows that one of AB's loveliest and most valued members has had a really rough year, I can only feel happy for you, Kate!
;-)
Merry (early) Christmas!

Thank goodness for mine. Library is closed for 3 weeks whilst it goes self-service. Oxfam and kindle. Sorted!
I thought that glasman - in fact I turned the offer of a kindle down last Christmas. Silly me!
oh, chris, if i had the money i^d buy you a kindle.
Thank you, Anne ;-)
Actually I'm not really sure that I'd like having instant access to loads of books. It would take away the fun of hunting for them!
For example, I came across one of J B Priestley's novels in a charity sale and really enjoyed it. I now go into every secondhand bookshop I come across and ask if they've got any J B Priestley novels. (They've all got his plays but the novels are much harder to find). I know that I can get all of his novels cheaply on Abebooks but that's not the point. It's the searching for them in bookshops which makes it fun!

buenchico i thought you were getting on to me there, thank you for your kind words it fair gives me a lift, the reason the boys got it early for me ,cause i,m back in hospital for more tests(colonoscopy/endoscopy)i keep getting anaemic and they want to know why,i dont want to go but i know i have to,sons will drag me there.
I love my kindle. I suffer from insomnia but at least if I can't sleep I can buy a book to read in the middle of the night................
OH got a kindle from Santa last year and loves it - especially when travelling, you don't have to take a suitcase full of books with you. It's very easy to read. I'm still not sure I'd want one myself, as I don't read many novels; but I think you'll enjoy it once you've got it up and running.
I think of the time I was stuck on a motorway for 8 hours. If only I'd had my kindle, I could have downloaded a book and forgotten about it for a while.
