As Dracula is a mythological being from Transylvania,could it be a Romanian word?

Dracula was based on a Count in Transylvania who was called Ivan the Impailer who would do horrible things to his prisoners.... it then blew up into this whole fascinating legend
Except that it was actually VLAD the impaler, not ivan. Do a google and there is loads of stuff.
the original was a South African antelope called Vlad the Impala...
