In a recent photograph the queen looked well but a bit older. She cannot live for ever and in five to ten years she will not be here. I am ready to see the accession to King Charles, are you ready for it?

I don't envy Charles becoming King at his age. When you think about it, most people will have retired when they are his age and he will be starting a new job, as will Camilla.

I've spent my life getting ready for it.
I’m not particularly a monarchist or royalist, but I’ll be sad to see the Queen go.

Charles? Well, just carry on as his mother has.
Let's put it this way. I am making bunting but it won't mention the jubilee and it will be stored carefully after this summer
As I refuse to recognise any sort of so-called 'monarch', it's irrelevant to me as to whether that 'monarch' is called Elizabeth, Charles, Enid, Elvis or Peppa Pig.
Monarchy McMonarchface, then, Chris?
It will be weird to hear "God save the King"
That will really take getting used to.
Start now then, Rocky ;-)
I completely agree with Buenchico. The whole concept of monarchy, as with any sort of privilege due to the accident of birth, is an abomination in this day and age and the quicker is abolished the better, IMO.

As for the tourism argument, that is patent nonsense.
Me and Charles, both.
..."rebellious Scots to crush"...
Charles could go before Mama and King Bill makes it through as Bill V unless he goes for a regnant name which apparently it's rumoured Charles may do so as George 7 - the passing down to the second gen on has happened before with Georgie 2 to 3, as we should have had a King Fred, Prince Fred going down with an early covid - well a lung injury. Also, George 2 and his mater, Queen Caroline couldn't stand Fred the Bed.
sorry Freddie's mater Q.Carrie.....
Once the Queen has gone I would be more than happy to see the back of them for good.

Charles with his 'ways' hopefully will speed that along.
christ dtc which flavveeeerrrr of gin are you on
Let me translate....
Fred the bed is Frederick Prince of Wales
Nevva heard of him? died 1758 so the Kings grandson succeeded as George III ( age 19 - I stand before you as a fully grown English man....)

George II is the ONE who said - i dont like Boetry and I dont like Bainting, not no 3

George I cdnt have - he didnt learn English

Spouses - George III Charlotte ( of glichten glochten gloo) she is the one who founded Q C Matty Hospital as a result fo the tragic death of her grandchild in child birth ( triple tragedy)

George II Adelaida

and George I ? anyone - The New King had locked his wee wifey ( Dorothea) away in a cell in Celle for adultery ( Count Konigsmark probably not sure) - so imagine the excitement in 1714 when London awaited the new king !

Interesting way of putting it dtc
Carolina and not adelaida - ansbach rings a bell ...
//It will be weird to hear "God save the King"//

Maybe Chas will order a new National Anthem & ditch the dirge.

(agree we should be a republic tho')
jno// as for the tourism argument, that is patent nonsense//
It is you is talking nonsense:-
//In the fiscal year 2019/2020, the Royal Estate's income from ticket admissions in the United Kingdom rose over the previous year. Overall, the admission income peaked at nearly 49.9 million British pounds //
Visitors would still want to see the properties without a living Royal Family. The numbers visiting ex-nobility country mansions is also enormous.
A Burnley fan as King! Can't wait. Hope he wears his Claret and Blue shirt while being crowned :-)))))
