This has just been posted on a local FB page. Haven't read the news so no idea if this is true or not.
"Just watched the News. Hundreds of people may have died in a care home in Portsmouth , two teenagers have been found in the street in Devon, dead, because of drugs. What's top of the news? England have won a football match!!!!! They even got a mention of 1966 in. GRRRRRR!!!!!!!"

Partly green cheese I would suggest, but says a lot about our society in 2018.

Well, if you will post about a bunch of loonies dressed in mediaeval costume marching for Scottish independence, what do you expect?
I read about the Devon teenagers first thing this morning, the care home story a few days ago, long before the match. News tends to flit about the page position during the day - I assume the match is the most recent.
"hundreds of people may have died in a care home in portsmouth"

surely they know if someone is dead or not? usually people who are not dead's chest goes up and down - seems a pretty easy test to me!
Good point, bednobs.
Maggie, people die in the street everyday. Sad but true. The young, the middle-aged and the advanced, they are all prone to life-threatening addiction or recreation of some kind. I don't understand why people think "news' should be prioritised on the grounds of morality and humanity. If we reported every drug / alcohol / aerosol inhalent related death in the UK, there would be no room for any other news.

England play in the World Cup once every 4 years. I've seen 12 world cups in my lifetime but today's match is something I will remember for the rest of my life. It was a stunning game. Stunningly good goals by the England Team, stunningly and hilariously outrageous conduct by our opponents.
Depends if the building is safe to enter yet, Bednobs. People are probably still in there, but whether they're found alive or dead is something that remains to be seen. I'm guessing so anyway ... first I've heard of the story.
Is this just another anti English rant Maggie? Looks like an anti English rant to me.
Sorry, just saw Prudie's post and the care home incident took place some days ago, her post suggests.
Are Scotland in the World Cup tournament?
An example link to the care home deaths, it's already been discussed on AB I believe

Sad news going on, I have managed not to watch any football.
it's not a care home - its a hospital
it's not portsmouth, it's gosport
hundreds of people DID die, not may have
As maggie says, green cheese
Interesting. I used to live in Gosport and had close ties with the War Memorial hospital - although I worked in the Community for Older People's Mental Health.
I read about the teenagers this morning. Two volunteers come from the same area. I expect I'll hear more from them.

No ZM, not another anti English rant. I was merely commenting on a post which was put up on FB by who knows who. Could be English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish or Chinese for all I know. Bit touchy today ZM, is the heat getting to you?
Not at all. Just thought you might be a bit upset at our World Cup success compared with your own countries.

I suppose if you rely on FB for news then this sort of thing is bound to happen.
Question Author
Yes, you're probably right ZM, just as some folk quote the Daily Mail on an almost daily basis.
Quite.
Coming from someone who earlier enthused about a march (that included patriotic dogs) for already rejected Scottish independence, this has to be a sick joke.
