250dollars
It's the most adictive, unput-downable console EVER curse it!!!!!!

http://www.nintendo.com/wii

About 150 - 190
i bought package, wii console, sports+marios+brain academy, + second remote control, intotal 260.
The basic package for a Wii with one controller and one game ( Wii Sports ) retails for 179.99 which is pretty good value but buying things like extra controllers and add ons can get quite pricey.
Have a look on ebay... save yourself some dosh...

Is it like a playstation then? My little girl has a Playstation 1, a brand new computer (this one actually that we fight over), a Nintendo DS. Do you think she is missing out by not having a Wii?

I am also going to get her 80 channels on the TV. I dont want her to think she is missing out on anything and I dont really understand all this mod tech.

I have only just learnt how to send a text message ! lol !

Must say though, my daughter is really really into books and we spend around 25 - 30 quid a week in Waterstones on the latest read material.

Thanks for all your help.

she is a lucky girl!!i havnt got anything when i was a child lol
WII is quite good for children to play and you can chose some nice games, the the brian academy we always played, quite good excerise for logical thinking, math, reactions etc.x
Hi Katie,
It is like a Playstation in the sense that it is a games console but the Wii uses infra red remote controls that you have to point at the TV and your success in the games depends upon holding and pointing the controller correctly. It is very much a social thing for multiple players in my opinion as opposed to a Playstation which is equally suited to a single player or multiple players

thanks for all of that guys. I reckon then that she has enough of the mod tech in addition to learning chinese, reading, horse riding and the games she already has. Just didnt want to think she was missing out on anything.

Yes, she IS over indulged upon but I cant help myself, I love her to bits and want her to have all the things I didnt have because my parents simply couldnt afford it . I think things are easier for children to have these days due to the fact that salaries are so much better than they were and Mums go out to work too thus providing a second income (although I am a single parent to Tilly). Having said that she does get 3 salaries, mine, my mums, my dads, and all the rest from friends and other members of the family.

She starts High School in September and I dont want her left out. Having said that the uniform and sports kit has just cost me a months mortgage ! lol !

Thanks again everyone for all your advice and help.

Take Care.

If you get your daughter a Wii then not only can she play computes games but she will be able to exercise at the same time. The sports package has boxing, golf, 10 pin bowling and tennis games and she will play them in the comfort/safety of her home and stay fit at the same time.
