Hi! What's your opinion on the Nintendo DS. Is it worth buying or not? My son has the Gameboy Advance SP and wants a DS. Any good?

yes, theyre really good graphics for such a small console. the DS lite is the latest model and would make an excellent gift. also nintendo dont overprice their consoles. much better idea than a ps3 or xbox 360 i think. and the games arent really expensive (about 10-20) and they will last for weeks of gameplay. its an excellent handheld and in my opinion, and many other gamers, the most advanced one on the market. :)

Thanks for that. Just needed to know if its worth the money. At least my son will be pleased, my pocket won't though, lol.
dont agree with the most advanced handheld remark random.surely the psp is far superior in terms of what it can offer ?
i would also disagree that a ds is a 'much better idea' than a ps3 or 360.i own a 360 and am very happy with it.i would never want to own a ds.imho handhelds are more for kids so to answer your question,taz...put simply if he liked the advance then he will luv the the ds im sure.

Thanks for that Matt. He's got an x-box, but the DS would be good for car journeys etc
Well I love mine and I didn't really expect to. Some nifty games and it's someone to talk to. There's a Zelda game due out soon too.
I spend far more time on my DS than on my PSP.

Though having seen Loco Roco that may change.
its seems to be the 'must have' this christmas for pretty much anyone aged 7-15. Much cheaper than the PSP though.
Although I don't have a DS, or any other handheld for that matter, my two best friends do, and they both say its brilliant. Also, if you can get to a Wi-Fi hotspot, you can play online, and if its a wi-fi hotspot such as MacDonalds or an internet cafe, then you can go online for free.

In the event that you do go ahead and purchase one, may I recommend Animal Crossing: Wild World? Both of my mates play this every day, and they're in their early 20s! Also, the New Super Mario Bros is meant to be good.

The PSP has far superior graphics and power; but nowhere near the selection of games. Plus, its a lot more expensive.

Thanks everybody for your advice. I guess the PSP would be great for someone older, but as he's only 9 and liable to wreck it within a week, I think he'll be happy with the DS. Cheers!
