http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Wii/Setup-amp-Connect/Termination-of-Nintendo-Wi-Fi-Connection/Termination-of-Nintendo-Wi-Fi-Connection-859609.html

Copied from the above link:
"As of May 20th, 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service was discontinued and it is now no longer possible to use online features of Nintendo DS/DSi and Wii software such as online play, matchmaking, competitions and leaderboards."

Just went to play Mario Kart online and got an error code saying that the internet service has been suspended.

Why the hell have they done this ... it's not even a way to force you to upgrade and buy a newer console ..... copied from the above link:
"Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will not be affected but it will not be possible to use online features of Wii software played in Wii Mode on Wii U, and of Nintendo DS games played on Nintendo 3DS family systems."

In my opinion, the only thing they're achieving is p***ing a lot of people off ...... oh and prob saving some dosh in the meantime, as us customers mean squat to some companies !!!!

It wouldn't be so bad if I could upgrade my console and carry on playing, but I can't, so what have they achieved ...... freakin' to**ers in my opinion .....

Agree with what you say,Gizmonster, bloody ludicrous. On a separate theme can you play an ordinary Wii Game on a Wii U? Thanks if you can help.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure, but I'd guess you can play Wii games on a Wii U, but not vice versa .... a bit like how you can play normal DVD's on a blu ray player; but you can't play blu ray DVD's on a normal DVD player.
Question Author
.... just noticed that someone has answered on your other thread ... and I'm wrong .... oh well :(
I don't think you are wrong,Gizmonster,Prudie might have got mixed up with what I asked,I only started another thread because Grandson is "on my back" so to speak, nothing personal against you.
Question Author
... yea, just read Prudie's original answer and his follow up answer ... I think maybe after all, you can play Wi games on the Wii U but not the other way round ... like I originally said :)
Thanks again,Gizmonster.
