Sodium hydrogen carbonate, NaHCO3.
Sodium (bi)carbonate - NaHCO3. The bicarbonate refering to the HCO3. Used in baking powder as a raising agent as it gives off carbon dioxide gas in most acids, and usable to treat indigestion / heartburn as it is an antacid. Is also used in toothpastes to give you that whiter smile.

Andy.

Since you're asking in the cooking section, maybe you're asking for a simpler answer like: bicarbonate of soda is also known as baking soda.
