I think co-ops cheap. I have to get huge ones, my blokes a piggie :-)
But anyways enough about what I'm willing to pay for a decent steak. what the hell is crafty eating?
Co-op's not cheap here....that would be why then 4get...you're feeding a pig :-)

I think she should try her luck and cook it as she would a normal steak...

Its a bright red colour, with a decent thickness 1/2 inch I reckon and both pieces have got fat around one side of them..........
Treat it as you would any steak then...I would.

How do you like your steak cooked?

btw...steak should never be bright red. That's something the supermarket do to make it look more appealing.

pig isnt the word ummm, after tea yesterday (pie and chips) he ate a whole apple crumble, 3 suasage rolls, a packet of hula hoops and a whole pack of maryland cookies

I bought it from a tesco ghetto in person.....I like my steak well done, how long should I cook it for and at what heat?
lol....that explains it. I just read that out to Ginger and it made him chuckle. We obviously eat much smaller portions.
we dont really buy that much food, cant with me being out of a job but every now and then a man needs to be treated with steak :-) he's a skinny thing too
Crafty, difficult to say how long to cook as we don't know what cut. Follow the instructions on the label, but although you like it well cooked, don't overcook it (either grilled or fried) as that will make it quite tough. However you do it, I really hope you enjoy it. Nice treat.
Well done?? That's a crime. It doesn't matter what cut it is if you like it well done...

Season steak with salt and pepper and rub oil into it (preferably it's been out of the fridge for a few hours) heat a frying pan til it's really hot....I mean really hot.! Put in steaks, cook for a couple of minutes each side and then put into the oven. If your frying pan goes into the oven...if not heat a baking tray before you transfer to the oven.

Haven't got a clue how long 'well done' takes...poke it and when no blood comes out it should be well done.

Cover in foil and leave to rest...
Don't overcook it as it will come out tough!
All 'well done' steak is tough...

Cheers for the help and info guys, its mellowing now in the oven just waiting for the veg to do.........

I was wondering about marinating the other piece of steak in some red wine overnight, what are your thoughts on this please?
Eat the one you're cooking first...let us no how it is :-)
Hope it isn't Dereham branch, I was told there that the young man on the butcher's counter wasn't insured to cut meat!

It wasn't bad, tough but thats what I expected, made a bit of gravy from the juices,might have been a bit salty but i think it was ok for my standards...

4getmenot, yes Dereham aka the twilight zone branch! It was late Friday afternoon, the store was packed and the regular butcher was on her break. They'd put someone on there to cover the counter, apparently no-one else was insured! Some management. I've never not had problems one way or the other there, it's a bit of a family joke.
