Not from what I've heard, you are paying for the hand-rearing not for any increase in taste or keeping power

If there is anything in commercially-raised veg which could harm them more than other people (pesticide etc) then you may have a point, but organic food is a great deal more expensive than "normal" and I would have thought that cost is probably quite an issue for you.
Shop bought...Some organic fruit seems to taste better.....usually because of the slower growing time that allows flavour to develop and sometimes because different varieties are available but veg...the difference is pretty negligible...

However home grown is a different matter...purely due to earth to pan time...when i had an allotment I really noticed...
