I'm thinking of buying a Toastie thingy, I've got an electric oven & grill the grill takes soo long to heat up I can't be bothered to wait for a 'quick' snack (I really miss my gas cooker) so one of those toastie machines I think will solve my prob. Any reccomendations folks?

I deliberated over buying one of those Pannini press things .I used to have a sandwich toaster but it was so messy ,and you had to fiddle around and cut the crusts off ,butter the bread a rse about face etc .
Simple solution ,toaster bags .You just make your sandwich sandwich ,pop it in the bag and then in the toaster .Lovely .They are reusable and cheap to buy in most pound shops or if you want posh ones Lakeland do them .

shaney toastie bags are ok but they dont make fuller toasties, and you have to have the right size of toaster
Defo the george foreman - makes great toasties and you can use it for other things unlike a dedicated toastie maker - no crusts to cut off either - I just butter the outsides of the bread and fill with cheese etc and put it in for 2 mins then turn then on for another minute - perfecto!
They suit me poodi . I've got enough gadgets gathering dust :))
I've got a George Forman grill which is fantastic, use it all the time.

The toaster pockets were very popular one place I worked and very cheap and easy to clean and reuse.

Perhaps I'll try these 'Toastie Pockets' before I splash out on a GF or the like.
Do they have 'em in Tesco's? or where shall I look?

Jem.
I have got them from the pound shops before, usually 2 for £1. Not sure about Tesco but wouldn't be surprised.

I would Which instead of That if I were being particularly pedantic.... (which I often am)
i use to use a sandwich maker for years until it conked out & then started to use a pannini press instead - took a little getting use to, but it's great for toasted sarnies.
obviously I can't put the 'wet' things like i did in the toastie maker e.g. baked beans or egg because of the flat plates, where as you know in a toasted sandwich maker its 'cupped' to hold the bread & fillings in.
buy a toaster & a toastie bag

Mmmm! got a toaster but I'm not too sure whether it will hold a sandwich, I suppose I'd have to squash & flatten it to get it in. (No Nun & Bishop jokes please)
Can one buy a toaster with ex wide slots?
There's a '£1' shop in town I'll pay 'em a visit tomorrow.
