I'm not sure if this is what you're after but those turkey rashers are alright. My wife put me on them after yet another lecture from the doctor about my weight/blood pressure blah blah and you know they aren't that bad. I mean they're obviously not as good as bacon but they are alright.
I have the same query - but for serving a vegetarian. I there any cheap bacon alternatives available at any of the local supermarkets?
Sorry. Is there any cheap bacon alternatives available at any of the local supermarkets for vegans?
Hotels in Muslim countries serve beef bacon.  Although I cannot recommend it personally (only interested in the real thing I'm afraid), a lot of people are observed to have it as part of their cholesterol uncontrolled breakfast
I'd agree with daddyg....the turkey bacon is a reasonable alternative..
I adore Morningstar streaky strips which you can get in the veggie section of the frozen food department in most supermarkets.  They're quite crispy so you couldn't wrap them around chicken breasts etc but they are super tasty and really quick to cook.  (although I should warn you that my OH insists they taste like stale smoky bacon crisps!)
Morningstar strips are veggie but not vegan.  The vegan alternative is Streaky Rashers by Redwood which are available at health food shops (Holland & Barrett etc) but not supermarkets.  Ready-made vegan foods at supermarkets are few and far between!
Also, the Morningstar back bacon you get in the supermarket (try Asda and Tesco) are excellent.  They are usually a bit thicker sliced than the streaky strips from the same company.
