When you parboil potatoes before roasting, does salting them or not salting them make a difference to the end result?

i usually always add salt to boiling potatoes or any other veg & they turn out just fine
No.
Why add salt, we use far too much for health purposes anyway

Potatoes don't taste the same when they are salted after boiling. Salt in the boiling water gives them a much better taste.
Adding salt after cooking makes food taste salty. Adding salt to the cooking water enhances the flavour of the vegetables and raises the temperature of the water.
Depends on the individual Chrissa, I have to add it, but my sis in law never has salt in the house. It does help bring out the flavour tho, they taste a bit insipid to me without salt.
Just drain them when they're cooked, jiggle about with a fork to get crispy bits later, roll in flour or semolina then put into well heated oil in oven, and keep turning.
I ALWAYS use Lo-salt btw x Good luck with 'em !!!!

Thanks for that all of you. I was really wondering if it affected the crispiness. I love salt myself.
Adding salt to boiling water highers the temperature of the water. When I get them ready for the oven I will season them...mildly...

I only add salt to mash as I think it needs it. I also season meat......I would never allow a salt seller at my dinner table.
We have Lo-Salt in the house, but I rarely use it when cooking. If something tastes a little bland, I use pepper or other herbs.
grrr at you pair

im out lol
sprinkling with salt for roasting stops fat spitting - less work cleaning oven; also increases crispyness.
As a cook-I agree with Ethel. Also-if food is seasoned properly during the preparation/cooking process-then there really should be no need to add salt to the finished dish...especially at the table. Also- the concentration of salt within the finished dish should be less than if salt is added later.
