Why bother with all the other topic categories
in answerbank when everyone seems to post their questions on chatterbank , a lot of good
questions go unnoticed when people take the
time to post them in the appropriate categories

Why? Because otherwise the whole thing would be taken up with Quizzes and Puzzles. Come on here on a Sunday morning and its full of people trying to finish their crosswords. Bloomin cheats.

Chatterbank is just that- for chatting and waffling rollocks as a rule, i'm sure most of us, if we have a serious question, post them in the appropriate category.

when i have a proper serious question to ask then i post it in the correct category but often, understandably, people want their question asked where there is the most traffic and that is generally chatterbank.

I try to use the proper categories.

I often post questions about cooking, but would not dream of putting it on here!

This thread is purely for chatting and not , well in my opinion, serious question asking!!

The categories are there for a reason - but sometimes, chats develop even on those. So long as people get the sort of replies they're looking for, I don't think it matters too much - x

Same here funnygirl- I just Chatterbank as intended, for talking crap, usually cakes in my case. However I have been known to venture around the rest of the site (providing matron says its ok that is) and post the occasional question elsewhere and even answer others sensibly- yes, that bit shocks me too!

I just posted a serious question somewhere (the right topic) and got a reply almost straight away. That's what the site is all about and it has renewed by faith in AB :)

Very good point Mary T. Many other categories are neglected and questions unanswered.

However, I notice some posts on this thread suggest that people looking for answers are 'cheats'. While I understand that puzzles etc are challenge, there is not usually a stupulation made in the rules as to where answers may be sought.

As this site was created with Answers in mind, surely thi is a good place to look for just that - answers.

Is it surprising that Quizzes and Puzzles category has attracted in excess of 90,000 requests for answers? Yes - ninety thousand.

Not being a regular 'comper', the issue does not really bother me. But everone to their own.
