A virtually colourless drink, made primarily from grapes with a dry, as opposed to sweet, taste.An excess intake of this rather nice wine can, for some peculiar reason, cause the drinker to slur his words and even fall off his chair, or hers as the case may be.
Exactly what it says on the bottle.
White wine is made from the juice of grapes without skin contact. 'Dry' indicates the amount of sugar left after fermentation finishes. Fermentation is the process where yeast converts sugar in the grape juice to alcohol. When all the sugar is consumed the yeast dies and you have a totally dry wine. Dry meaning the opposite of sweet

If fermentation stops before all sugar is consumed then the wine is sweeter.

The amount of sugar remaining in a wine is known as RS - residual sugar.
